Retired Cabell County deputy, son indicted on multiple charges

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A retired Cabell County deputy sheriff and his son have been indicted on various drug and gun charges.

According to U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart, Steven Dale McCallister, 45, was arrested at a Barboursville residence in June following a search warrant being executed. Officers seized 1.2 kilograms of fentanyl, 300 grams of methamphetamine and $8,000 in cash.

$4,000 was from an undercover purchase of fentanyl. A revolver was also taken.

Larry McCallister, 76, was at the home at the time and present during the search.

Steven Dale McCallister, 45, was indicted on charges of distribution of fentanyl; possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl; possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine; possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking; and felon in possession of a firearm.

If convicted on all counts, he will spend between 10 years and life in prison. He will also have to forfeit around $4,040, a firearm and a 2007 Cadillac.

Larry McCallister is charged with maintaining a drug-involved premise and aid and abetting the possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He faces between 5 and 40 years in prison.

A federal grand jury indicted the two suspects.
