Northern Panhandle officials hoping to develop strategies on roads

TRIADELPHIA, W.Va. — Local and state leaders from the Northern Panhandle will be meeting in one place on Tuesday to develop a strategy regarding local roadways.

State Senator William Ihlenfeld (D-Ohio) and Delegate Randy Swartzmiller (D-Hancock) have invited commissioners and legislators with hopes of developing a strategy to bring a larger share of state highway resources to Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, and Marshall counties.

The meeting will get underway at 10 a.m. at The Highlands Event Center and will include a briefing from local Division of Highways officials on the status of road projects in each of the Northern Panhandle counties, followed by a discussion among commissioners and legislators on how to leverage their collective voices.

According to a release, the commissioners and legislators will gather again in Charleston in September for meetings with state highway officials, and on a quarterly basis thereafter.
