Block party and music fest to be held Saturday in Beckley

The Lilly Mountaineers are among the musical acts scheduled to perform Saturday at the Appalachian Festival Block Party in Downtown Beckley.

BECKLEY, W.Va. — In conjunction with the ongoing 2019 Appalachian Festival in Raleigh County, the City of Beckley will host several regional music group performances Saturday afternoon and evening.

The Appalachian Festival Block Party, formerly known as “Taste of Beckley,” will feature concert stages along Main Street, Neville Street, and Word Park. The New River Jazz Band, Shane Ingram and Friends, The Lilly Mountaineers, Bailey Spurlock and Major Paradigm are scheduled to perform.

In addition to the musical lineup, area restaurants will set up booths for attendees to sample items and vote in a food competition, followed by an awards ceremony in categories such as best appetizer, best entrée, best sandwich, and best dessert. The traditional Oreo-Stacking Contest will take place later in the evening.

Family activities will include an obstacle course, a bounce house, and face painting.
