TAYLOR COUNTY, W.Va. — A Taylor County magistrate is resigning after ignoring two orders to not practice law.

Magistrate Robert Lee Bolton III received two orders — an administrative order and an order from the Judicial Investigation Commission — regarding practicing law while serving public office.

According to the Judicial Investigation Commission, the body told Bolton on three occasions, by administrative order and by circuit judges to not take part in private practice, which Bolton ignored.

Bolton took office in April 2015. His resignation will go into effect on Oct. 15. A replacement magistrate will serve until next May’s election.
