Reported explosion rocks Cross Lanes home; no one injured

CROSS LANES, W.Va. — A Cross Lanes home is destroyed after a reported explosion in its garage triggered a large fire Thursday morning.

Authorities said no one was inside the home at the time of the explosion. Firefighters arrived at the scene of a residence in the 600 block of Stewart Park to heavy fire around 7:30 a.m.

The siding and fence of a nearby home was damaged by the heat.

Kanawha County deputies and the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s office will determine the cause of the fire.
