Kanawha deputies look for man charged with kidnapping

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. — Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies were looking for a man Saturday evening after charging him with kidnapping.

Christopher Slater

Christopher Michael Slater, 27, of South Charleston, allegedly entered the house of his ex-wife in St. Albans early Saturday morning. Deputies said he entered a window and fled with his two children, ages 3 and 9.

Deputies later found Slater’s vehicle near Pratt. They said he and the children were at a relative’s home. Slater took off without the children when deputies arrived. The children, unharmed, were returned to their mother.

Slater is charged with two counts of kidnapping, violating a domestic violence protective order and burglary.

Deputies said anyone with information should call 304-357-0169.
