McDowell official facing state charges on improper licensing

WELCH, W.Va. — The director of the McDowell County Redevelopment Office has lost his job after being arrested last week on state charges related to a lack of proper licensing.

The McDowell County Commission terminated Dan Riley of Berwind as he is facing charges of not having a license in the state to perform building code inspections and of not having a license to perform building plans examinations.

The Bluefield Telegraph reported Riley turned himself into the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday. He also serves on the Coalfield Expressways Authority board

Both charges are misdemeanors.
