BRIDGEPORT. W.Va. — USA Today has placed Bridgeport on its list of the 50 best places to live in the United States.

Bridgeport was 16th on the list, which used data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the FBI. Most cities on the list are not major municipalities, and Bridgeport is not within close proximity to a major metropolitan area.

Andrea Kerr, Bridgeport’s community development director, told WAJR-FM there are multiple reasons for the ranking.

“We have some very forward-thinking business leaders, and not only in Bridgeport but in northcentral West Virginia and they make it their job to put us on the map,” she said.

“It’s no secret we have great schools in Bridgeport and great residents to prospering business and that tied in with the quality of life the city of Bridgeport tries to provide to all of our residents and patrons that visit the city.”

As for what the rankings mean for the city, Kerr said it will be noted in economic development presentations.
