FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Gage Michael tossed three touchdown passes and ran for two more scores as Fairmont Senior improved to 3-0 with a 39-6 win over North Marion at East-West Stadium.
Michael found Kayson Nealy for three second quarter touchdown connections of 19, 12 and 12 yards. He also rushed for scores of 6 and 12 yards. Michael ended the game with 397 all-purpose yards.
“That’s what he always does,” said Fairmont Senior head coach Nick Bartic. “Through three weeks he has shown where he is at in terms of caliber players in the state.”
North Marion’s lone score came midway through the second quarter when Gunner Murphy hit Tariq Miller on a 61-yard catch-and-run for a score. But the Polar Bears scored with just eight seconds left in the opening half to lead 29-6 at intermission.
Cam Longwell reeled in nine passes for 86 yards for the Polar Bears.
Fairmont Senior’s defense has allowed just twenty points in their 3-0 start. “We made adjustments we needed to make. Outside of two missed tackles on their touchdown, we have to be sure that up before next week. Tackling is going to be big.”
The Polar Bears will visit Bridgeport (2-0) next Thursday night in a game that will be broadcast in HD video at wvmetronews.com. North Marion (2-1) will travel to Elkins on September 20th.
