The Switch Lite ($200 value) is designed for players who spend most of their Switch playtime on the go or are looking to connect Switch to TV without dock. Here are the major differences between the standard and Lite consoles:
— Size & Weight
The Lite is noticeably more compact. Its screen measures 5.5” (compared to the original 6.2” screen), and it weighs 25% less. Its overall body is also 1/2 inch shorter in height and more than an inch shorter in length, making it easier to tuck into your favorite bag or pocket.
— Fixed Controls
The Switch Lite significantly reduces the size and cost of the platform by doing away with the removable joy cons and dock-ability. The Lite is one solid piece designed to be played exclusively like Nintendo’s previous handheld gaming systems. The Lite can still be played with an external joy cons and Pro controllers via Bluetooth.
— The D–pad is back!
You asked for it, Nintendo delivered. Finally, in addition to the left–side joystick, the Lite features the classic D–pad that Nintendo Gamers have been missing for so long.
— Increased battery life
The Lite requires less processing power, which gives players more time between charges.
The end result is a gaming system that is even more portable than the original Switch, but still capable of playing all the Switch games you already own. The system drops on September 20, along with the much–anticipated Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
