One dead, two injured in Logan County crash

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — One person was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash and resulting fire in Logan County Thursday.

The incident happened on Upper Crawley Creek Road in Chapmanville. According to West Virginia State Police, both vehicles were on fire when troopers arrived at the scene. The responding officers were able to rescue two people, who were transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital with unspecified injuries.

A passenger in one of the vehicles, identified as Beverly Duty, 49, of Harts, died at the scene.

Investigators said alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash. Toxicology tests have been ordered.
