Robertson to retire from Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The general manager for the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center will leave his position in October.

The Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center announced Tuesday that John Robertson’s last day will be Oct. 23. Robertson’s 41-year tenure with the facility began when he joined as assistant director in August 1978.

“I am so thankful that I have been able to remain in the community I love and be involved in such a rewarding career,” Robertson said in a statement. “What happens at the Coliseum and Convention Center makes a significant impact on such a diverse community in Charleston and southern West Virginia and I celebrate the part I have played in helping make it a success.”

Robertson will leave as the longest-serving general manager in the facility’s history.

The Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center Board of Directors will launch a national search for Robertson’s successor.
