Former healthcare exec arraigned on criminal charges

HAMLIN, W.Va. — The former chief executive officer of Lincoln County Primary Care Center has pleaded not guilty to a dozen criminal counts tied to an alleged embezzlement scheme.

Brian Crist, 50, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, was arraigned Monday in Lincoln County Circuit Court following a recent indictment. He was arrested in July.

According to investigators, Crist used his position to divert money, services and property for personal gain.He made more than $100,000 worth of personal purchases using a company credit card, including home improvement supplies for two personal homes in Lincoln County, Baltimore Orioles memorabilia and baseball equipment.

Crist faces felony charges of embezzlement, falsifying accounts, obtaining money by false pretense and computer fraud.

A pretrial hearing in the case has been scheduled for Oct. 29.
