Field set for State H.S. Golf Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — 24 teams have qualified for the 2019 WVSSAC High School Golf Championship. The two-day, 36-hole event will be hosted by The Jones Course at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling on October 8 & 9.

New champions will be crowned in all three classes. Last year’s champions George Washington (Class AAA), Westside (Class AA) and Wheeling Central Catholic (Class A) failed to qualify through the regional competitions. Runners-up Washington (Class AAA) and Ravenswood (Class A) are in this year’s field.

Three new individual medalists will also be awarded. Fairmont Senior’s Clark Craig returns after falling to PikeView’s Carson Profitt in a playoff for the Class AA title last fall.

Class AAA teams:

Cabell Midland, Capital, Greenbrier East, Huntington, Martinsburg, Morgantown, Washington, Wheeling Park

Class AA teams:

Chapmanville, Fairmont Senior, North Marion, Roane County, Robert C. Byrd, Shady Spring, Winfield, Wyoming East

Class A teams:

Charleston Catholic, Moorefield, Parkersburg Catholic, Ravenswood, Ritchie County, St. Marys, Tucker County, Webster County

Class AAA individuals:

David Bailey (Princeton), Ryan Bilby (Brooke), Cole Dunham (Hedgesville), Andrew Manley (Ripley), Anderson Goldman (George Washington), Luke Livengood (Preston), Zac Pownell (Jefferson), Sam White (Hurricane)

Class AA individuals:
