Police arrest man in connection with Preston County bank robbery

BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. — A suspected bank robber was chased down in Pennsylvania just north of Morgantown Wednesday afternoon.

Daryl Ray Waychoff, 55, of Houston, Pennsylvania, allegedly robbed the Clear Mountain Bank in Bruceton Mills at about 11 a.m., according to the Preston County Sheriff’s Department.

He took off on a motorcycle and was pursued by police west on Interstate 68 and then north on Interstate 79.

Pennsylvania State Police told MetroNews affiliate WAJR Radio in Morgantown the Waychoff “initiated contact” with a police cruiser at about the seven mile marker in Greene County, Pennsylvania where he was taken into custody.

Waychoff was injured and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
