MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The man charged with robbing a bank in Preston County Wednesday now faces charges from a 2018 bank robbery in Monongalia County.
Daryl Waychoff, 55, of Houston, Pennsylvania, was arrested yesterday following a police pursuit. He’s charged with armed robbery after allegedly holding up the Clear Mountain Bank in Bruceton Mills. He was charged Thursday by Monongalia County authorities with the Sept. 15, 2018, robbery of First United Bank & Trust near the I-79 Star City exit.
“It was about the same m-o, white male, walked into the bank, got onto a motorcycle and fled the area,” Monongalia County Sheriff Perry Palmer told MetroNews affiliate WAJR Radio Thursday.
Palmer said one of his deputies that’s been working on the 2018 case heard the information about Wednesday’s robbery and was part of the pursuit.
“Detective Curry has been working on it since it occurred and he had some leads on it and was able to ID the guy after they apprehended on this one,” Palmer said. “Hwent to the scene, He was one of the vehicles in the pursuit also.”
Palmer aid the warrant was served at Ruby Memorial Hospital where Waychoff was being treated for injuries suffered during the Wednesday multi-county pursuit.
Waychoff is now in the North Central Regional Jail. Bail is set at $1 million for the Preston County robbery and $150,000 for the Monongalia County heist.
