Volunteer firefighters arrested in Raleigh County arson

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Three volunteer firefighters in Raleigh County have been charged by the state Fire Marshal in connection with an recent arson investigation.

Dennis Wade Wilson, 18, of Josephine, Matthew Allen Meadows, 39, of Rhodell, and Alexia Brieane Shrewsbury, 19, of Rhodell were all arrested Wednesday by investigators and charged with first degree arson and conspiracy. Investigators also served two juvenile petitions in the case.

Wilson, Meadows and Shrewsbury are affiliated with a Raleigh County volunteer fire department, authorities said.

The charges are connected to a July arson fire in Rhodell. The Fire Marshal’s Office has been conducting an investigation in Raleigh County the past several months in connection with a number of suspicious fires.
