MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A closer look at action across the state in Week 6:

Martinsburg earns 48th straight win

The Class AAA No. 2 Bulldogs had no trouble in a 62-0 victory over No. 13 Washington.

Martinsburg scored twice — on a 65-yard pass to Jarod Bowie and a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Malakai Brown — within the game’s opening minute.

Elijah Banks threw his second TD pass to Bowie and tailbacks Trey Sine and Naieem Kearney each added rushing touchdowns before the first quarter was over.

The Bulldogs (6-0) cruised from there, while the Patriots fell to 3-2.

Spring Valley blanks Capital

Class AAA No. 7 Spring Valley started strong and never looked back in a 41-0 victory over No. 9 Capital.

The Timberwolves (5-1) held the Cougars (3-3) to 72 total yards.

After Capital fumbled on the opening kickoff, Spring Valley went on top for good with the first of three Nate Ellis rushing touchdowns in the opening half.

Ellis found the end zone on runs of 2, 3 and 8 yards to help the Timberwolves build a 21-0 lead, before Luke Christopher reached the end zone on a 4-yard run for the first score of the second half.

GW edges Hurricane in overtime

The No. 14 Patriots stopped the No. 15 Redskins on a 2-point conversion try in overtime to claim a 28-27 win.

R.T. Alexander’s 20-yard touchdown pass to Brayden McCallister accounted for GW’s overtime touchdown, before Nate Barham answered with a 19-yard run for the Redskins (2-4) that set up Christian Hill’s 1-yard TD run.

On the 2-point try, however, Hill was stopped short, allowing GW to improve to 3-3.

McCallister caught 10 passes for 152 yards in the win.

Bridgeport closes strong, beats North Marion

The Class AA No. 6 Tribe scored the game’s final 14 points to create separation and claim a 35-20 win over No. 8 North Marion.

Carson Winkie, who carried 34 times for 248 yards in the win, scored from 2 yards with 8:44 remaining to up the Bridgeport (5-1) lead to 28-20.
