Fire spreads through homes in Wheeling

WHEELING, W.Va. — Members of the Wheeling Fire Department have been on the scene of a blaze in the city since early this morning. The fire broke out about 3:15 a.m. at a home on South Frazier Avenue in the Mozart community.

The house was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived on scene and collapsed within 20 minutes. The fire was so intense it spread to a second home. Heat and flames also damaged a third house on the street before firemen were able to get the flames under control.

Nobody was injured in the blaze and occupants of the second home that was destroyed were able to get out okay. A cause fore the fire remains under investigation.

The Wheeling Fire Department has six of its units on scene along with numerous off duty personnel who were called in to help get a handle on the rapidly moving fire.
