Update: Human remains found in Fayette County identified

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. — Skeletal remains discovered in the Hilltop area of Fayette County earlier this month have been identified as those of a woman reported missing nearly three years ago.

Georgia Stone

According to the sheriff’s department, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the remains are those of Georgia M. Stone of Hilltop, who was last seen in December 2016 at her residence on Sanger Road.

The cause of death has not been determined.

Sheriff Mike Fridley said deputies are searching the area where Stone’s remains were found to locate any evidence that may connected to the death.
