BECKLEY, W.Va. — Around 180 vendors will be on hand for a Regional Job and Resource Fair in Beckley on Friday.
The Erma Byrd Higher Education Center and Allied Health Wing and U.S. Senator Joe Manchin’s office is helping put the event on that had so much interest it was moved to the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.
“We are focusing on the citizen of southern West Virginia. A person who wants to change careers, wants to get a job, wants to get into the workforce period,” Lisa Moten, the director of the Erma Byrd Higher Education Center said.
The fair will focus on jobs and resources along with educational opportunities such as internships in a gamut of fields including healthcare and law enforcement.
Moten told MetroNews that among the vendors that will be in attendance are Carl Larson Cancer Center, Raleigh General Hospital, Montgomery General Hospital, Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, Beckley Police Department, Morgantown Police Department, FCI Beckley, FCI McDowell, FCI Gilmer, and FPC Alderson.
“This fair targets the community person that is just going to work,” Moten said. “This fair will target displaced workers such as former coal miners, this fair will target graduates and professionals that are in the field of work that are in careers. Students that are looking for internships.”
