Man charged with killing girlfriend in Charleston murder investigation

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A woman is dead and Charleston police have charged her boyfriend with murder.

Tressa Adkins, 57, of Charleston, was found dead in an apartment at Carroll Terrace on the city’s East End Tuesday. Police were called to the scene after a man later identified as Charles Wesley Wild, 37, of Charleston, called Metro 911 and said his girlfriend was dead.

Police later charged Wild, who was at the apartment when police arrived, with first-degree murder.

Detectives said Adkins body had visible injuries to her face, neck and upper torso. Wild was charged with first degree murder. He was arraigned and is being held in the South Central Regional Jail without bail.

Police said an autopsy will be performed on Adkins’ body.
