Justice lifts drought state of emergency

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Jim Justice has signed a proclamation lifting the State of Emergency he issued in early October in connection with drought conditions.

Justice signed the original proclamation on Oct. 3 after weeks of very little rain in the Mountain State. Conditions have improved since then. Justice officially lifted the state of emergency Sunday.

There were also an outdoor burning ban for a few weeks which has also since been lifted.

A state of emergency designation removes certain restrictions in state code to allow for a fuller response to various situations.

The drought state of emergency was in effect for all 55 counties..
