UPDATE: Man struck, killed in Martinsburg parking lot identified

Update 11.5.19:

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Police have identified the man killed after he was struck walking through the parking lot of a Martinsburg store.

Walter Baihly, 78 of Harpers Ferry, was walking through the Apple Harvest Drive Lowe’s parking lot Friday afternoon. Police confirm he was struck by a vehicle driven by Robert Brining, 84 of Martinsburg.

The case has been transferred to the Berkeley County Prosecutors Office for review. No charges have been filed so far.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — An elderly man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in a store parking lot.

Martinsburg Police responded to the Lowe’s on Apple Harvest Drive at 12:23 Friday afternoon after receiving a report that a pedestrian had been struck. Upon arrival, officers and fire crews found 78 year-old man who had been struck while crossing the store’s parking lot.

The victim was taken to Berkeley Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. His identity is not being released at this time.

Martinsburg Police Sgt. Eric Neely is handling the investigation.
