2019 Christmas ornament unveiled

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — For the third year in a row, First Lady Cathy Justice unveiled the state’s Christmas ornament.

Matt and Tessie Wallace designed the steel piece, which is a layout of the state with a rough surface representing the state’s topography. A star is placed at Charleston’s location.

“We want to promote all of our resources in our state, and this year our ornament is from steel,” Justice said during an event Wednesday at the state Culture Center.

The Wallaces said the steel is from West Virginia, and they use local businesses to help gather resources for the ornaments.

Only 500 ornaments have been made, with each selling for $23 at the West Virginia State Museum Shop at the Culture Center in Charleston and Tamarack in Beckley.
