Man in custody following drug death

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Police have charged a man in connection with a recent drug-related death.

Fairmont police allege Robert Haislip, 41, of Fairmont, provided methamphetamine to a 38-year-old woman at his Skyline Drive home on Oct. 19.

Haislip told detectives when the victim became unresponsive, he gave her a dose of Naloxone but it didn’t work. He told police he made no further life-saving attempts.

The woman later died at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Haislip was charged Friday with delivery of a controlled substance causing death.

He’s being held at North Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $1 million bail.
