George Washington sweeps Musselman to claim Class AAA title

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — George Washington rallied from early deficits in each of the first two sets to win their first Class AAA state championship since 2015, 3-0 over Musselman.

In a matchup of the top two seeds in the Class AAA field, the Patriots used lengthy runs in all three sets to defeat the Applemen. GW won the first set 25-20. After trailing 11-6 in the second set, the Patriots ran off ten consecutive points on the serve of Carli Edwards to win 25-15. GW jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the third set and cruised to a 25-13 win, securing the school’s seventh state championship.

GW concludes the season with of record of 58-2-2.
