Former state employee admits to wire fraud, using state purchasing card

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A former West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection employee entered a guilty plea on Monday after being charged with a wire fraud felony.

Yvonne Dozier, 50, of Boomer, was an accounting technician assigned a state purchasing card. She used the card to make personal purchases and also fraudulently wired credit card information and invoices.

Dozier made multiple purchases from 2014 to 2018, totaling $61,753.72. Some of her purchases were a vacation rental in North Carolina.

In a statement to the U.S. Secret Service, she admitted to misusing the card, altering invoices and passing expenses to the state.

Dozier faces up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release. She is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 13.
