Micro-winery to hold grand opening in Morgantown on Small Business Saturday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Small Business Saturday will bring about the grand opening of a micro-winery in Morgantown.

Findley Martin is located on the Mileground.

Founders Any Sidwell and Murray Gervais earned silver medal for their Viognier and Cherry wines and bronze medals for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay by judges from the American Wine Society at the Pittsburgh Wine Experience.

Findley Martin’s label was awarded silver in the 2019 International Wine Label Design Contest.

Findley Martin is a micro-winery, Gervais said.

“A micro-winery does not have its own vineyard, but produces small batches of wine from grapes and fruits it gets from farmers,” Gervais said.

Sidwell said their venture has gotten a lot of help.

“Over the past two years, we have worked with a number of farmers, winemakers, and brewers who have helped us immeasurably,” Sidwell said.

Sidwell and Gervais started making wine in their homes and were quickly running out of room in their pantries.

“Our plan going forward is to keep making high-quality, small batch wine, while supporting the people who have helped us. We’re excited to promote local artisans by highlighting a Maker-of-the-Month each month,” Gervais said.

Wine and Maker-of-the-Month retail sales take place at 1533 Mileground Road, Suite B in Morgantown.. Find the shop’s entrance on the outside, ground floor of the KLM Properties building.

The winery’s grand opening will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m, which is Small Business Saturday.
