MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia senior offensive tackle Colton McKivitz was named the top offensive lineman in the Big 12 this season, the league announced in the release of this year’s all-conference team.

McKivitz shares the distinction with Oklahoma center Creed Humphrey, who is one of the frontrunners to win this year’s Rimington Trophy as the nation’s top center.

McKivitz is the second straight Mountaineer to be named the Big 12’s offensive lineman of the year, following in the footsteps of former teammate Yodny Cajuste.

Defensive lineman Darius Stills joined McKivitz in being named to the all-Big 12 first team. He also received votes as the Big 12 defensive lineman of the year, but lost out to Baylor’s James Lynch.

Stills tied his brother Dante for second in the Big 12 with seven sacks, and was fourth in the league with 15 tackles for loss.

West Virginia Mountaineers defensive lineman Darius Stills (56) was named first team all-Big 12.

Three Mountaineers made the all-Big 12 second team, all of whom played on Vic Koenning’s defense.

Dante Stills was joined by senior cornerback Keith Washington and senior safety Josh Norwood on the second team.

Norwood finished the season with 64 tackles. He missed the last 2.5 games after breaking his collarbone on a highlight-reel interception in WVU’s upset win at Kansas State.

Washington was a steadying influence for West Virginia’s young secondary while also compiling all-conference stats. He ranked sixth in the Big 12 with three interceptions and fourth in the league with an average of 1.2 passes defended per game.

Linebacker Josh Chandler and wide receiver Sam James were honorable mentions.

Punter Josh Growden received at least one vote of support as Big 12 special teams player of the year, but was not named to the first or second team. Likewise, safety Tykee Smith picked up at least one vote for defensive freshman of the year, but lost out to TCU defensive back Ar’Darius Washington.

The postseason all-conference team is voted on by the league’s coaches.
