MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Trailing by five points with 3:30 to play, University rallied to score the last eleven points of the contest to upend Woodrow Wilson, 73-67 in the opening game of the G Force Lock & Safe Holiday Tournament at Morgantown High School.
The Hawks received 56 of their 73 points from their senior backcourt combo of K.J. McClurg and Kaden Metheny. McClurg led all scorers with 29 points while Metheny added 27.
Richard Law led Beckley (1-2) with 26 points. Ayden Ince added 10.
University (5-0) will face Hurricane on Day 2 of the tournament Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:15pm. Beckley will face the host Morgantown at 6pm.
