Fire closes lodge at Hampshire County clothing-optional resort

PAW PAW, W.Va. — The lodge and indoor aquatics center at a Hampshire County resort remained closed on New Year’s Day after a fire.

A Tuesday afternoon fire was reported at the lodge at Avalon Resort, a clothing-optional resort located in Hampshire County, according to WKLP Radio, a MetroNews affiliate.

The cause of the fire was not immediately available.

A message on Avalon Resort’s website said “due to an emergency” the lodge and aquatics center “will be closed until further notice.”

“We appreciate your patience,” resort officials posted.
