Car crashes into Huntington pizza shop during police pursuit

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A Huntington pizza restaurant caught fire Monday morning after an SUV crashed into it.

Marshall University’s alert system sent out a notification just after 9 a.m. saying the car crashed into Husson’s Pizza on the corner of 4th Avenue and Hal Greer Boulevard during a police pursuit.

Huntington Police have identified the suspect as Tanner Miller, 24 of Huntington. According to police, Miller had felony warrants out for his arrest when they attempted to stop him around 17th Street and 9th Avenue.

Miller then led police on a pursuit that ended shortly after he took off from the scene following the crash into Husson’s. He was caught nearby on foot in an alley.

Flames were noticeable coming from the building soon after the crash. The restaurant has received fire and smoke damage.

The Huntington Fire Department said a second person driving a pickup truck near Husson’s suffered minor injuries during the crash.

No one was inside the building at the time of the crash.
