Cabell Midland leads the way in the initial MetroNews Girls Power Index

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Knights of Cabell Midland have earned the top spot in the first release of the MetroNews Girls Basketball Power Index.

The index takes win/loss record, schedule strength and strength of victory into account and ranks all WVSSAC schools.

Cabell Midland (8-0) is one of five undefeated teams in West Virginia and they have defeated a pair of one-loss teams in Musselman and Winfield. Class AA Frankfort checks in at No. 2. The Falcons are 8-1 and have defeated defending state champion Fairmont Senior on the road. North Marion (6-0) is third and the Huskies have defeated Frankfort and Fairmont Senior.

Defending Class A state champion Huntington St. Joseph’s is tops among the small school squads. The Irish (11-0) are 15th.
