MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Former West Virginia running back Martell Pettaway has found his new home. The senior announced on Sunday night that he will finish his college football career at Middle Tennessee State.
Pettaway joins the Blue Raiders as a graduate transfer. In four seasons with the Mountaineers, he rushed for 1,104 yards on 217 carries.

Pettaway chose to redshirt last season after a rough start for all of West Virginia’s running backs. Pettaway rushed for 72 yards on 27 carries in four games before electing to sit out the rest of the year. The Mountaineers finished 129th in the nation in yards per carry.
Pettaway started his WVU career a year earlier than expected, as injuries to other backs forced him to play three games in 2016 when he was scheduled to redshirt.
West Virginia remains in the market for a running back to fill out its 2020 signing class. National signing day for the spring semester is looming on Feb. 5.
