Shady Spring climbs to top of MetroNews Power Index

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Class AA Shady Spring (13-0) is the new leader in the MetroNews boys basketball Power Index. The Tigers are the fourth different team to hold the top spot over the last four weeks. Cabell Midland, Morgantown and University have also held the top spots. The top four teams in this week’s index are separated by just three points.

Shady Spring is the only remaining unbeaten team in Class AA and they have defeated five Class AAA schools. Morgantown (11-2), University (11-3), Cabell Midland (12-1) and Martinsburg (10-2) complete the top five.

Hedgesville (11-3), North Marion (13-1), Wheeling Park (11-3), Chapmanville (12-2) and Robert C. Byrd (9-2) occupy spots six through ten.

Greater Beckley Christian (12-3) is the leader among Class A schools at No. 16. Charleston Catholic (9-3) has climbed to No. 18 following their win over Cabell Midland.
