Wheeling Park leaps to top of MetroNews Girls Basketball Power Index

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Wheeling Park (18-2) is the new leader in the third release of the MetroNews Girls Basketball Power Index. The Patriots have surged to the top spot after their OVAC 5A semifinal win over University Monday evening.

North Marion (16-1) is second and is the top Class AA team in the index. Greenbrier East (13-2), Cabell Midland (13-3) and Frankfort (14-1) complete the top five.

Martinsburg (13-2), Woodrow Wilson (12-3), Fairmont Senior (14-2), South Charleston (12-3) and Winfield (15-2) round out the top ten.

Defending state champion Huntington St. Joseph’s (18-1) is the leader among Class A schools in 19th.
