Active slides close two roads in southern West Virginia

PRINCETON, W.Va. — The wet weather continues to cause problems for West Virginia’s highway system.

The state Division of Highways said Friday there are several road closures because of high water and mud slides.

The DOH said one bad spot is along Ingleside Road (WV 112) in Mercer County. Engineers said there’s been additional movement in a slide that’s been active for several months. The road will remain closed until the weather breaks allowing crews to do cleanup work.

State Route 41 at Prince in Fayette County is also closed because of a mudslide. Trees and utility poles are part of the slide damage. The DOH said that road will also stay closed until the weather improves.
