Fairmont police: Woman dead in accidental shooting

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — A woman died in an accidental shooting Friday night, police said.

Malinda Broyles, 45, of Fairmont, was shot in the neck around 9 p.m. Friday in an apartment in the 1900 block of Morgantown Avenue, according to Fairmont police.

Gene McIntosh, 34, was handling a rifle when it accidentally went off, police said. McIntosh has been charged with wanton endangerment.

Three children ages 8, 15 and 17 were in the house when police officers arrived. Investigators said the children were referred to the appropriate agencies.

McIntosh was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday.
