CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in West Virginia increased Friday to 96, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced.

The 20 latest cases since Thursday were identified in Berkeley, Greenbrier, Hancock, Jackson, Kanawha, Marion, Mason, Ohio, Pleasants, Putnam and Raleigh counties.

Monongalia County has the most reported cases to the state with 23, followed by Kanawha County with 17. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department announced Friday officials have identified 19 positive cases.

According to the state health department, 2,427 residents have been tested with 2,331 tests coming back negative. The results of six other tests are pending at the state laboratory.
