Man jailed in connection with Beckley shooting death

BECKLEY, W.Va. — A preliminary hearing will be scheduled for a Raleigh County man charged with murder following a weekend shooting.

Beckley police arrested Eric Burkhart, 31, of Stanaford, after the shooting in the 200 block of Hargrove Street.

According ot investigators, Burkhart was in a verbal altercation with a 31-year-old man and 42-year-old woman and allegedly shot both of them. The man died and the woman remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Burkhart is charged with first degree murder, malicious wounding and three counts of wanton endangerment.

He’s being held without bail in the Southern Regional Jail.
