LEWISBURG, W.Va. — Greenbrier County Sheriff Bruce Sloan hopes a $5,000 reward will help generate additional leads and key information into the deaths of two people at a home near Ronceverte last week.
“Hopefully that will generate some information that will prove to be beneficial,” Sloan said Tuesday.
The April 2 fire at the home of Joseph and Daisy Foster claimed both of their lives. The home was located on Fullen Cemetery Road outside Ronceverte. Crews discovered the bodies of the couple in the ashes after the fire was out.
“The deaths were not accidental, it’s being investigated as a double-homicide,” Sloan added.

Sloan could not say much about how the fire started or what they have learned in the investigation. He confirmed they have talked to several persons of interest, but hoped the reward would lead to others who may have seen something the night of the fire.
“We’ve asked the public for any assistance they might be able to provide with regard to something they may have seen, like automobiles or pedestrian traffic from probably 10 p.m. on April 1st to about 5 a.m. on April 2nd,” he said.
Information investigators found put the couple at home the night before the fire and they were last spoken to around 10 p.m.
The reward is being put up by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s office.
