DHHR releases testing numbers

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Department of Health and Human Resources said the two-day total of a new open coronavirus testing program was 2,388 tests administered.

The National Guard helped lead efforts in Berkeley, Jefferson, Raleigh and Mercer counties.

The test results are expected back in a few days.

Meanwhile, the DHHR said Saturday evening the state’s positive test rate is at 2 percent following 73,617 overall tests and 1,470 confirmed cases.

The state has reported a 65th death, an 89-year-old man from Fayette County.

Totals for the free two-day testing: 872 individuals tested in Berkeley County; 748 in Jefferson County; 364 in Mercer County; and 404 in Raleigh County.

The free testing moves to Cabell, Kanawha, Marion and Monongalia counties next Friday and Saturday.
