CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Division of Motor Vehicles says it’s going to reopen some of its regional offices a week from Tuesday–by appointment only–so customers can get things done at the DMV that only be done in person–like taking a driver’s license exam.
The regional offices opening by appointment only are located in Kanawha City, Winfield, Beckley, Charles Town, Huntington, Moundsville, Fairmont, Flatwoods, Romney and Parkersburg.
Other services to be offered in-person include transferring an out-of-state driver’s license, issuing an original identification card, reissuing an ID card or driver’s license with changes, driver knowledge examinations, and salesperson knowledge examinations.
The DMV said driver’s license tests will be done by the examiner observing from the outside of the vehicle.
The DMV said it will unveil a scheduling app later this week.
The agency has also announced an additional extension of deadlines for services that can be done online through the DMV website. The new deadline for all documents due for renewal from March 1 and following will be Aug. 1.
“We now have a solution for every service that the DMV offers,” DMV Commissioner Everett Frazier said. “Although the method of delivery may be different than in the past. Necessity is the mother of invention and we hope that the additional online services and appointment-based scheduling system will have a positive impact on customer service long after the pandemic is in our rearview mirror. We have learned to be more flexible and I know that we will continue to make modifications to make our service better than ever.”
DMV online services include:
Driver’s license renewal (if no changes, and every other cycle)
Duplicate driver’s license request
Vehicle registration renewals
Duplicate vehicle registration decals and cards
Print your driving record
Check your driver’s license status
