Woman critically injured in Monongalia County shooting

CORE, W.Va. – A woman has been critically injured in a shooting during a domestic dispute in Monongalia County. The victim was shot in the head during an altercation Wednesday evening on Pedlar Run Road in Core.

First responders from Mon EMS and the Cassville Fire Department were able to stabilize the victim, who was flown by HealthNet to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Travis Anderson, 33, of Morgantown, has been charged with wanton endangerment. Anderson, who placed the initial 911 call, told detectives he and the victim had been involved in a domestic dispute and that the gun discharged during the disagreement.

Anderson’s bond has been set at $250,000.

The investigation surrounding the circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
