CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Justice administration and several partners have unveiled an interactive map that details summer food assistance programs across the state.
The map includes information about where senior citizens can get meals, where food is available for children, the availability of feeding programs for all and the location of food pantries.
“I want to make sure all West Virginians who need help with food get access to it,” Justice said Thursday.

State Adjutant General, Major General Jim Hoyer said the map and its information represents an combined effort by several agencies
“It all comes down to that stabilization of population, showing West Virginians that we care and that they all matter and that we are going to work together cooperatively to come through this pandemic,” Hoyer said.
The governor’s office, West Virginia National Guard, West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), state Bureau of Senior Services and the United Way are all involved.
WV VOAD Executive Director Jenny Gannaway said there’s also an option to call for assistance if there’s not a location on the map close to where you live.
“Anybody that needs food they can get onto the link or we’re pushing people to the United Way, (dial) 211, and call if you have a need for food,” Gannaway said.
There are more than 600 sites across the state ready assist, Justice said.
“We are absolutely having a wonderful coordination going up between these agencies,” Justice said.
Hoyer said the effort will be valuable in the years to come.
“these are partnerships and processes that will last well beyond the pandemic,” he predicted.
