Deadly Domestic Shooting in Mon County

CORE, W.Va. — Detectives in Monongalia County are sorting out the circumstances surrouding what is now a deadly domestic shooting in Core.

Jane Wynette Sharak, 42, of Core, died Wednesday at Ruby Memorial Hospital from injuries she sustained in the Tuesday evening shooting.

Deputies first responded around 6:18 Tuesday evening to Pedlar Run Road in Core and found Sharak had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. She was flown by HealthNet to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Travis Anderson, 33, of Morgantown, who placed the initial 911 call, told detectives he and the Sharak, his fiance, had been involved in an argument and that a gun discharged during the disagreement. Anderson was taken into custody and charged with wanton endangerment.

Anderson was arraigned and had his bond set at $250,000 prior to Sharak’s death.

The incident remains under investigation.
