CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Department of Health and Human Resources reported 411 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday and three new deaths.
The deaths include a 53-year old male from Mingo County, a 70-year old male from Lewis County, and a 74-year old male from Berkeley County.
“COVID-19 has hurt far too many West Virginia families,” state DHHR Secretary Bill Crouch. “Building community immunity is our not-so-secret weapon to ending the pandemic. I urge all who are eligible to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine.”
Active cases were listed at 6,716 Thursday. Hospitalizations have risen slightly at 272 patients with 85 of them in intensive care.
Forty-six percent of the state’s overall population has now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
