Jennifer Smith is a true gold and blue Mountaineer. She grew up in Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont Sr. High. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from West Virginia University in 1993.
Jennifer started her career at WBOY-TV in Clarksburg as the anchor of the station's 5:30 newscast "First Edition." she also served as the station's Fairmont Bureau Chief.
In 1998 she moved to Charleston to take a job with the CBS affiliate. She spent four years covering everything from the floods to state government to high school football.
Jennifer joined Metro News in January of 2003 as the co-anchor of "The Morning News" with Chris Lawrence. She also covers breaking news and loves to find and tell a good feature story.
Even though she grew up in Fairmont, Jennifer now considers Charleston her "True Home." in her spare time she's a "Trading Spaces" fanatic and loves to fix up and decorate her home. The love of her life? Lucy Lieu -- also known as Lulu -- her toy miniature poodle. Jennifer never misses a Mountaineer football game.
