For the seventh straight week, it’s Martinsburg (20-2) that comes in as No. 1 in the Warner Law Offices MetroNews Power Index for boys high school basketball in the state. The Bulldogs completed regular season play on Monday and will now look to postseason play.
No. 2 South Charleston (18-2) lost for the first time this season to an instate opponent as the Black Eagles fell in the MSAC championship game to Woodrow Wilson (17-4). With the win, the Flying Eagles jumped ahead of Morgantown for No. 4. Greenbrier East (19-2), meanwhile, stays at No. 3 in the rankings.
Parkersburg South (17-4) also moved ahead of Morgantown, coming in at No. 5 overall. The Mohigans (15-6), following a loss to Fairmont Senior, drop to No. 6. The Polar Bears (16-5) are at No. 15 overall, the second highest Class AA team ranked. Bluefield (19-2) is at No. 13.
The highest Class A team is Tug Valley (19-3), coming in at No. 18 following an impressive win this past week over Huntington. To see the the complete rankings for this week, click here.
